Small Dogs House
When buying a doghouse, always consider the size of your dog. His
house should be of just the right size – not too small that he feels
cramped and
uncomfortable
nor too big that he feels cold and lonely inside it. It is important
that the doghouse should be of just the right dimensions such that your
dog is able to maintain the warmth inside with his own body even if it’s
very cold outside. And if his house is heated or insulated, he can live
outdoors and play in the yard all year round.
If you want your dog to live indoors, he should also have a regular
place to stay. He may have his own dog bed or a soft cushion to sleep on
or an indoor doghouse. The important thing is that he has a regular
comfortable sleeping area. This will teach him discipline and
orderliness and train him to be a responsible dog. Small Dogs Bed
Your dog’s bed should be restful and comfortable. It should make him
want to sleep in it night after night. Also, it should be just the right
size for him. Take note that wicker baskets are difficult to clean and
are easy targets for chewing. Dog beds made of polyurethane are much
more durable and easier to clean and maintain. Just remember to take it
out every now and then for washing and dry it out in the sun. This will
take out whatever foul odor it may have as well as wash off, if not
kill, any fleas and mite that are hiding in its folds and creases.
Your dog would love to have a blanket that will keep him warm during
the cold months. Just make sure to wash and change it regularly so that
it will not become a breeding place for fleas and ticks. Small Dogs
Clothes

Most dog-owners prefer to display their dogs in all their natural
beauty, with their shiny, smooth, and fragrant coat of hair. Some
owners, however, prefer their dogs to be fashionable and updated when it
comes to wardrobe essentials. If you are one of those who want their
dogs to be fashion-forward, then you are in luck. There are already many
stores that carry labels for dog clothes – from coats to fleeces, boots
to snow shoes, cool sweaters and cute shirts for summer, from swimwear
to Halloween costumes, for special occasions and for casual wear, for
formal and informal affairs – the list has no limits and the fashion
possibilities are endless. Just make sure the clothes you choose are of
good quality and the colors suit your dog, including his energy.
Small Dogs Apparel
Aside from clothes, your dog would also need other essentials like
coats, sweaters and sweatshirts, pajamas and bathrobes, vests, jumpers
and overalls, capes and ponchos, sport jerseys, hats, some rain gear,
hangers for all the clothes, and the storage cabinet for all of these
apparel.
Again when shopping for dog apparel, we remind you to check the
quality of the product and match the sizes for a perfect beautiful fit.
Small Dogs Collar
Choose a collar that fits the size of your dog. The right collar size
will allow you to place two fingers
between the neck of your dog and the collar. If it is loose, the collar
will just slip off the neck of your dog easily. If it is too tight, it
might choke your dog to death. A leather collar is probably the best
choice. Attach an identity tag, just in case, especially when you’re
traveling together and you need to make a lot of stopovers. Small
Dogs Harness
A harness helps prevent the neck of the dog from being injured as he
pulls on the leash while walking. A harness reduces pulling, back
problems, and other injuries that collars induce. There’s even a car
harness to keep your dog safe while you’re driving about town. When
buying a harness, choose one that is lightweight, ultra-soft, and
extremely comfortable. The front plate should be sturdy and padded to
protect the chest area. A padded handle and a str ong
Velcro closure for easy fitting and removing are plus factors. Make sure
that the material used is sturdy and can withstand the heavy pulling and
tugging of your dog. There should be an additional safeguard just in
case the Velcro accidentally rips open. Check that your dog’s shoulders
aren’t crowded and that he has full and free range of movement even as
he wears the harness. Check the length; your dog may get his harness wet
while relieving himself if it’s too long. Lastly, make sure that the
D-ring is reinforced and distributes the weight evenly, thus,
eliminating discomfort and possible injury. Small Dogs Accessories
You also need to invest in some accessories for your dog. These
include retractable and adjustable dog leashes, identity tags, and
ear-wraps and tie-ups to keep his hair and ears out of his food.
Small Dogs Toys
Consider size when buying toys for your dog. A small ball, for
instance, may accidentally get lodged in the throat of your dog and
asphyxiate him.
If your dog is an active chewer, then it would be a good idea to buy
him a chew toy. This will distract him from chewing other things in the
house that are useful and valuable, like your pillows and blankets,
shoes, the edge of your sofa, or your children’s books and school
supplies. A durable hard rubber chew toy will be suitable for an
aggressive chewer while rope-like toys are suitable for a less
aggressive one. If your dog is a non-aggressive chewer, then you may
let him play with a soft ball or a stuffed toy. If the toy has your own
smell in it, your dog may even find it comforting. Playing Frisbee
with your dog will give him that much-needed exercise. Rope toys are
also great for tug-of-war games while big plastic balls that float are
great for developing his swimming skills. And if you have the skill and
the patience, you can even teach your dog to surf. It’s not an issue
that he’s small. Remember, the champion surf-dog in the world is a small
dog. |
